Changelog

Every meaningful change, data update and correction to Election Map Wales. Newest first.

  1. 8 May 2026Feature

    Liquid tally bar + race-to-majority

The seat-tally bar now has a subtle animated wave along its top edge so it reads as live, and the misleading '49 to win' line through the stacked parties is replaced by a dedicated leader-progress strip showing how close the leading party actually is to a 96-seat Senedd majority.

  2. 8 May 2026Fix

    Real declaration timestamps

The live feed and 'most recent declarations' panel now use the time we first observed each ballot as declared, instead of stamping every refresh as just-now. Newly arriving seats actually surface to the top.

  3. 8 May 2026Feature

    Welsh chrome strings populated

The language toggle now actually switches the navigation, sidebar, footer and common UI labels into Welsh. Long-form pages remain English for now.

  4. 8 May 2026Feature

    Dynamic share images

Every Senedd, constituency and party page now generates its own social-share preview at /api/og/... so links unfurled in WhatsApp, Slack, X and iMessage carry page-specific context instead of a generic logo.

  5. 8 May 2026Fix

    Seat tally bar refresh

The 'seats declared' headline got a tighter hierarchy with a thin progress meter, the majority threshold now lives in its own stat card, and the party-segment bar gained subtle gaps and a chip-style '49 to win' marker.

  6. 8 May 2026Feature

    Bilingual plumbing (EN/CY)

Every page now also lives at /cy/... ready for Welsh translation. A language toggle sits in the header next to the theme switch.

  7. 8 May 2026Feature

    Visual identity refresh

New display typeface (Poppins) paired with Inter for body, a dragon-red brand accent on the wordmark and focus rings, and a light theme alongside dark with a system-aware toggle in the header.

  8. 8 May 2026Feature

    Constituency and party hub pages

Every Welsh seat we track now has a permanent /constituencies/{slug} page collecting its results across every election. Each party gets a /parties/{id} page with seats won and vote share over time. A dynamic /sitemap.xml lists them all for search engines.

  9. 8 May 2026Feature

Methodology, changelog and about pages added

Trust layer rolled out: every results card now cites its data source and last-updated time, with full methodology and a public changelog.

  10. 8 May 2026Feature

    Government-formation banner copy

Live and final result banners now use 'Projected winner', 'Majority winner' and 'Coalition territory' wording, with a tick on confirmed leaders.

  11. 7 May 2026Feature

Live commentary tape and just-called pulse

Newly declared constituencies pulse on the map for a few seconds, and a horizontal commentary tape lists the most recent calls.

  12. 7 May 2026Feature

Turnout colour mode and gain/hold badges

Map can now be coloured by turnout. Recent calls and constituency cards show gain/hold badges against the 2021 notional baseline.
